Rules for Successful Dating as a Mormon in the LDS Community

The Mormon community is a close knit community that consists of people who live under a Christian doctrine this was founded by Joseph Smith. They are different from fundamentalist Christians in many ways. Mormons do share the basics with the fundamentalist Christians and others of the Christian faith.

1. Service to others
2. Working to strengthen the family
3. Missionary work
4. Humanitarian aide
5. Good citizenship
6. The preservation of family history

Their dating rituals also follow most of the traditional lines of thinking for fundamentalist Christians. The most common thread is the view on sex and affection. At no time should any couple engage in what God intended for marriage. This is strictly enforced and taught as young as age 12 or 13.

1. As stated above, the sect has a strict moral code against sex before marriage as do many other Christian sects. Anyone who is outside of that faith that is willing to date a Mormon must know that this is kept in a strict order.
2. Mormons are encouraged to wait until age 16 to begin the dating process and that is what it is to them, a process. They are discouraged from steady dating. Instead, the community tries to encourage group dating situations.
3. Mormons are strictly against watching anything that can be deemed explicit so going to an R-rated movie is prohibited by this group.
4. Any date idea must be made with the restrictions in mind: sex, drugs, drinking, and smoking. Anyone who is outside the religion that is seeking interfaith dating and who partakes in aforementioned, may find an issue.

[edit] Here are the reasons why dating under this strict doctrine is because of how Mormons view marriage:

It is slightly different than other Christian sects. When a couple does finally marry, it is called a sacred temple marriage. It is considered one of the loftiest of all accomplishments in this sect. In order to get to even enter the sacred temple, a Mormon must have not participated in any physical sexual activity before marriage. To break this commandment of sorts is considered a real offence against God. The temple is a place where all of the most important ceremonies are held. The partner that is outside the religion will be strongly encouraged to convert.
